Valley Billetal

In the valley Billetal, nature is still untouched. This protected area was formed at the end of the last ice-age by the melting water. Today it borders on to the Sachsenwald, the largest single forest area in Schleswig-Holstein. The area is a native habitat to many animal and plant species. With a little luck you get to watch particular bird species such as the water ouzel which spends the winter here, the gray wagtail or the river kingfisher with its colourful plumage. Come and discover this unique natural environment on the Bille hiking trail. It is well worth it.
