Reinfeld

The town of the carp is a recognized health resort. From September, the tasty heraldic fish is on the menu. The carp season starts with the carp festival and the fishing in the Herrenteich, and lasts until Easter. But in the meantime, bone-free carp fillets are available all year round. In addition doctor fish, eel, hake and trout are also for sale. Of particular interest in the town and worth seeing are the rectory, built on the walls of the birthplace of the poet Matthias Claudius; the monastery walls; the Matthias Claudius church; the museum of local history; the pretty town hall built in 1907; the chemist shop “Priviligierte Apotheke” and the widows house “Predigerwitwenhaus”.

The beautiful walking paths, cycling routes and the hiking trails around the Herrenteich and the central Neuhöfer Teich as well as the hiking trails leading into the forests give you the opportunity to discover the beauty of the Heilsau valley.

Hamburg is only about 30 minutes away by car or train. The Baltic Sea, for example, Travemünde, is only a few minutes’ drive. There are several hotels for your overnight stay.
